1. How do I create a new team?
Easy peasy lemon squeezy….just send us an e-mail at info@saveagallon.org and include your team name. If we’re not busy saving the world and stopping crime in our day jobs as super heroes, the new team should show up in the menu within 24 hours.

3. Click on “SAG-Settings”
4. Under the Team: option, use the drop down menu to find your team and select it.

3. Why don’t all my miles show under my team?
Only miles entered since you joined the team will be added to your team. This allows a user to change teams if you’d like. This is useful if a student user moves from one class (e.g. 3rd grade) to a new class (e.g. 4th grade).
OR
You haven’t joined the team. See How come when I log miles, they don’t show up under my team?

4. What do you do with all the data at Saveagallon?
Sadly, not much. Tim likes to make websites and Phil likes to look at numbers and hassle people about joining. If you’re into numbers and looking for a masters or PhD idea, give us a shout.

5. Who started Saveagallon and why?
Tim Starback and Phil Cox. We have been riding bikes all our lives and one night wondered how much a difference we might be making by riding our bikes instead of driving. Voila!!! Saveagallon was born in February 2008. Tim does ALL the programming, web design, and basically work. Phil is the marketing department and head haggler, hassler, and recruiter for SAG.

6. Why join SAG?
If you have to ask, it’s not for you. Seriously, we realize SAG is a site for unique users who already know they’re making a difference by using alternative transportation but want that quantification and virtual pat on the back to see their numbers rise.

7. Why does it have to be only non-recreational bike miles?
Saveagallon was born on the idea of logging alternative transportation miles. Recreation miles are just that, you rode for only one purpose, recreation. The idea behind SAG is that you ride your bike INSTEAD of driving somewhere and those are the miles we want. Besides, there are plenty of websites or spreadsheets you can use to track your recreational bike miles. Actually there other sites that convert your bike commuter miles also. SAG is unique in that we include all modes of alternative transportation.

8. How do I know how many miles to log when I go somewhere?
Simple, either guess or use a mapping tool like Google maps. Or, maybe sometime when you drive, check your odometer. You could also get a relatively cheap bike computer.

Sorry, Phil wrote this and he’s the lame one. Send us an e-mail at info@saveagallon.org and we’ll be on it like Tim on a case of Tecate.
